Our timeline

2035 - Space Exploration Ventures is formed
Following the arrival of the first human to Mars, interest in exploring space beyond the Solar system grows. Several private organizations and governments around the world, sharing this common goal, join forces to form Space Exploration Ventures (SEV) as a public-private partnership headquartered in London.

2036 - Proxima b becomes SEV's first destination
After considering several expansion targets, Proxima b is chosen since, at 4.2 light-years in the Alpha Centauri system, it is the closest exoplanet to us. At the time, little is known about Proxima b beyond it being a terrestrial planet slightly larger than Earth.

2044 - First probes sent to Proxima b
Laser-sail technology is developed after nearly 10 years of research, allowing nano-probes to travel at 20% the speed of light. Caravels 1-3 are the first high-speed probes launched to study Proxima b’s surface, expected to reach the planet within 20 years.

2059 - Mars outpost established
The first Martian settlers initiate construction of the Mons Olympus Outpost, primarily funded by the Tokai-Wulong-Chosun Conglomerate. SEV is awarded a research contract to develop interplanetary communication, which will eventually lead to the discovery of quantum entanglement.

2062 - Quantum communication technology developed
Digital messages are successfully sent instantaneously from London to Mars using quantum entanglement. Within 5 years, Martian communication systems are replaced with quantcomms, making exchanges between the Earth and Mars as fast as within the Earth. Quantcomms becomes SEV’s biggest revenue driver, accelerating our research.

2068 - Caravel probe images are received
Caravel 3 is lost in transit, but Caravels 1 and 2 successfully reach Proxima b's surface, capturing an abundance of pictures and video. Four years after arrival, their feed reaches the Earth and confirm that Proxima b harbors advanced life forms. We are not alone in the Universe.

2093 - First artificial void hole created
Scientists in SEV's Dark Energy Research Centre create a micro void hole for the first time, proving long discussed theories about the possibility of opening rifts in space-time. This breakthrough opens new research paths that will eventually lead to the discovery of teleportation.

2101 - Antimatter propulsion becomes mainstream
Despite being used for priority vessels, antimatter propulsion was not widely available due to production limitations. Discovery of more energy efficient ways to produce antimatter fuel allow its widespread use, speeding up space travel within the Solar system by more than two thirds.

2107 - Memories are transferred between human brain clones
Independent researchers (partially funded by SEV) successfully transfer memories from a terminally ill patient to an artificially created brain clone. For the next decade, experimentation slows down due to ethical concerns and ensuing regulation.

2115 - Matter is teleported across a considerable distance for the first time
A further breakthrough towards teleportation is made when solid matter is pushed through an artificially created micro black hole in London and exits instantly, unaltered, through a micro void hole in Melbourne.

2121 - Evidence of widespread life extension is made public
Undercover investigations expose multiple wealthy individuals extending their lives illegally through cloning and memory transfers. This event sparks violent riots in numerous countries, with the population demanding access to the same technology. Governments promise to review life extension regulations.

2122 - SEV allowed to use cloning and memory transfers for high-risk space missions
As the ethics of life extension continue to be discussed, SEV successfully wins an essential legal battle approving the use of cloning and memory transfers as a means to revive astronauts who lose their lives in high-risk missions.

2135 - Titan outpost is established
Titan (largest moon orbiting Saturn) is chosen as the ideal location to launch the first crewed mission to Proxima b, due to its position in the outer Solar system and vast energy-convertible hydrocarbon seas. An outpost is established to allow construction of the Saturn Launch Station.

2127 - Quantcomms used for real-time memory backups
SEV personnel are issued a quantcomms-enabled brain implant by default. This device transfers the subject's memory to a central server in real-time, allowing revival with memory restoration to the nearest nano-second in the event of death.

2142 - Revival becomes commercially available in the Cayman Islands
With no agreement in sight for international regulations covering "revival" (restoration of memories into a younger clone), the Cayman Islands take a unilateral decision to allow any consumer to purchase their “revival”. Despite widespread criticism, the move attracts thousands of clients and accelerates political decisions that had been in deadlock for years.

2148 - First successful teleportation between Earth and Titan
Many teleportation tests follow, in preparation for material and personnel exchange necessary to build the Saturn Launch Station. Subsequent improvements allow teleportation of objects up to 1 cubic meter in size.

2148 - Canada declares revival a fundamental right for their citizens
The move prompts a rush of uncontrolled immigration, mainly from the United States. Other countries follow Canada’s lead within just a few years.

2152 - SEV systems are used to enable civilian revival
After failed attempts to create national revival enablement systems, multiple countries decide to use SEV's memory store & restore technology along with hardware brain implants for real-time memory backups. Our technology, having been in use for 30 years, proves to be reliable and quickly gains international adoption.

2160 - Vesta Black Hole is created
Formerly the second largest asteroid in the belt between Mars and Jupiter, Vesta is artificially collapsed into a black hole to become the entry point to the Inner / Outer Solar system Tunnel (IOST), a teleportation route between Mars and Saturn reducing travel times within the Solar system by half.

2169 - Titan Void Gate construction finishes
The massive Titan Void Gate is the IOST’s exit, able to create a void hole large enough to let mid-sized carrier spacecraft through. With both Vesta and the Titan Void Gate operational, the IOST officially opens and large-scale teleportation from Mars to Saturn ensues. The Titan outpost quickly grows as a result, becoming a colony within two years.

2173 - Population growth leads to revival controls
With revival now a universally accepted right, population growth becomes unsustainable and leads to overcrowding in several countries. Revival controls are introduced, limiting the amount of time people can be alive on Earth. This leads to massive population shifts to the Mars and Titan colonies.

2177 - S2PT Mission starts
Budget to initiate the Sun To Proxima Tunnel (S2PT) Mission is released. This is SEV’s most ambitious mission ever, aiming to create a teleportation tunnel between the Solar System and Alpha Centauri. If successful, it will reduce spacecraft journeys that take 40 years with current technology, to a mere instant.

2178 - Saturn Launch Station and Noah-1 construction begins
Noah-1 is the ark-class spacecraft designed to carry human settlers to Proxima b. In parallel, the Saturn Launch Station is built specifically to host and launch Noah-1 and future settler arks.

2185 - Noah-1 takes off
It carries 100,000 life pods designed to land in Proxima b and help settlers survive. It will take 40 years to reach the planet. The aunch is met with huge celebration across Earth and colonies.

2210 - today
Noah-1 is now a little over half the way to Proxima b. No issues have been reported to date. There are still seats free for anyone interested in becoming a settler, register here for more information.

2225 - Estimated: first humans land on Proxima b
Within 15 years, Noah-1 will enter Proxima b’s orbit and distribute life pods throughout the planet’s surface.
